Zonta supplies decals to local women-owned businesses

Ashley Sheffer, owner of Core Goods in Oil City, is one of the more than 130 women business owners in Venango County who have been recognized with a decal by the Franklin-Oil City Zonta Club.

The Oil City-Franklin Zonta Club has been highlighting women-owned businesses in Venango County by presenting window decals to those that are at least 51% women-owned. Over May and June, they have recognized around 130 businesses. The initiative, led by club president Rebekah Deal and committee chair Susan Williams, aims to acknowledge the significant impact of these businesses in the region. In Pennsylvania, 33.1% of small businesses are women-owned. Despite challenges, 73.7% of female business owners report being happy. The most common industries for these businesses are retail and e-commerce, health, beauty and fitness, and business services. For more information, contact the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce.
