Woods & River Coffee in Oil City won the Venango Museum of Art, Science and Industry’s “Best Sandwich in the County” contest for 2023.
Its Beartown Breakfast Sandwich was chosen as best by participants of the contest, which ran from June 5 to Aug. 31 and featured 17 participating restaurants from across Venango County.
The general public purchased entry cards from the Venango Museum, which entitled people to vote and try one each of all the sandwiches entered into the contest at 50% off.
Other participating restaurants included Baked Goods From Heaven, Billy’s, Casey’s Restaurant & Lounge, Coal Oil Johnny’s Eatery, Country Grub, Double Play Sports Bar, Emlenton Brew Haus, Famoore’s Family Restaurant, Farmer’s Daughter Country Market, Haggerty’s Ice Cream & More, Heath’s Market, Kings Family Restaurant (Sugarcreek), Log Cabin Restaurant, Mac’s Snax, Valley Dairy Restaurant (Cranberry) and Wanango Country Club.
The contest is expected to make a return next summer.
