Woman waives hearing on charges related to meth lab

From staff reports

A Franklin woman accused of manufacturing methamphetamine in a bedroom at her grandmother’s house waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Richelle Naser, 27, is facing felony counts of operating a methamphetamine lab, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, and possessing a precursor substance with intent to unlawfully manufacture.

She has also been charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, use-possession of drug paraphernalia and recklessly endangering another person.

A criminal complaint filed by Franklin state police says police were called to a residence on Mercer Road in Mineral Township on Nov. 11 by a member of Naser’s family.

The family member told police Naser was using and making drugs in a bedroom of the house owned by Naser’s 81-year-old grandmother, the complaint said.

The complaint said the grandmother told police that Naser had asked her “a few times” over the summer to buy Naser cold medicine from behind a pharmacy counter. The grandmother also told police on several occasions she had found drink bottles in the trash and in Naser’s room with “odd crystal substances inside,” the complaint said.

The grandmother told police on that morning she had gone into Naser’s bedroom and saw a bottle of “liquid fire,” a hammer and a funnel. She then retrieved for police a clear 1 liter bottle she had found in Naser’s bedroom that she had thrown in the yard, the complaint said.

Police said a one-pot reaction mixture and a gas generator were seized from the residence that were found to contain both methamphetamine and many of the chemicals used to manufacture the drug.
