Woman facing hindering, obstruction charges

From staff reports

A woman is facing charges after allegedly lying to police and preventing the apprehension of a runaway teenager on Monday.

Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint they responded Monday morning to a man’s Cherrytree Township home to locate his daughter who ran away from the home.

Police said the man and his ex, Jade Ellen Anderson, 36, of Wattsburg, had joint custody of their daughter, who police said was under 18 years of age. The man is supposed to have custody of the girl until Sunday, police said.

Police said they contacted Anderson who told them she did not know where the girl was.

Police said they then contacted the home where the girl’s boyfriend lives and spoke to the boyfriend’s mother. She told police that she was not aware the girl had run away and that Anderson was on her way to pick her daughter up, according to police.

Police said they responded to the boyfriend’s Titusville home and saw Anderson pulling up to the house.

Police said they then questioned Anderson again, who they claimed lied about knowing where the girl was. Police said she was at the home with the purpose of taking the child back to her house against the custody agreement.

Anderson has been charged with misdemeanor counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution – provides false information to a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, and criminal attempt – interference with custody of children.
