LUCINDA – Winners have been announced for the St. Joseph Fourth of July celebration in Lucinda.
Charles Ziminski of Oil City won the drawing for the grand prize of $5,000. Second prize winner Wanda Wagner of Shippenville was awarded $2,000, and third prize winner John Ochs of Shippenville received $1,000.
Other winners included Steve Dorsek of Coraopolis, Ted Wells Sr., Phil Wolbert of McKees Rocks, Rod Robick, Nicole Ditz of Lucinda, Doc Bauer of Lucinda and Justin and Katie Amsler of Marienville.
Winners of the Rosary Society prizes were Jim Harvey of Titusville, first prize; Audrey Steiner, second prize; and D.C. Thorpe, third prize.
Other winner included Carol Martino of Boston, Samantha Wedekind of Aliquippa and Keith Drayer of New Bethlehem.
Junior grand prize winners include James Burkhardt, Eliza Datko of Shippenville and Betsy Ochs of Lucinda.
The female medalists for the Liberty 5K run-walk at the event include Roxanne McFarland, overall female winner; Olivia Mumford, in the age 14 and under category; Michaela Higgins, 15-19; Emily Bonk, 20-29; Staci Hannold, 30-39; Bobbie Mays, 40-49; Jody Shawley, 50-59; and Anna Smerkar, 60 and over.
The male medalists for the Liberty 5K Run-Walk at the event include Adam Bettwy, overall male winner; Don Cunningham, in the age 14 and under category; Taidgh George, 15-19; Nick Schmader, 20-29; Brad Roth, 30-39; Aaron Dennis, 40-49; Don Williams, 50-59; and Al Lander, 60 and over.
Proceeds from the annual event benefit St. Joseph Catholic School in Lucinda.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the formal organization of the school, which provides education to about 100 students from preschool age through sixth grade.
