From staff reports
Storms continued to roll through the area Sunday after wreaking havoc on festivals in Franklin and Oil City on Saturday.
A staff writer attending BridgeFest in Oil City on Saturday afternoon said strong winds, hail and rain ripped through about 4 p.m.
The winds picked up a folding canopy and deposited it into the river below before onlookers could rescue it, she said.
The storms left many without power on Oil City’s South Side, but power returned within “a few hours,” the reporter said.
Electric lines were also down across Riverside Drive, causing traffic to be diverted up to Sage Run Road.
Storms once again ripped through the area Sunday, leaving downed trees and wires in their wake.
Venango County 911 Dispatch said crews were working to clean up two electric poles that were down along Camp Coffman Road in Pinegrove Township at 7:45 p.m.
In Clarion County, 911 dispatchers said the destruction was throughout the county.
“We’ve been busy, there’s traffic hazards and trees down, things like that,” they said.
