WEATHER ALERT: The National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory for Mercer, Venango, Forest, Clarion and Jefferson counties. The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. today until 5 p.m. Saturday.
The weather service is forecasting a total of 2 to 4 inches of snow with the period of most intense snow being from midnight to 6 a.m. Saturday.
The weather service said the snow will begin by 9 p.m. today and end by Saturday afternoon.
Hazards include travel difficulties due to the snow.
The weather service said current models are depicting a situation where a band of snow will swing through tonight, crossing most locations in about two to three hours.
“This band will likely produce more moderate snowfall rates and greatly reduce visibility,” the weather service said.
The weather service said to expect temperature readings 20 to 25 degrees below normal.
