Water plant upgrades

Horizon Construction Group, of Seneca, worked this week on the frame for the structure that will house a larger, improved filtration system at the water filtration treatment plant near the Cranberry Mall. The concrete foundation was poured in spring. Construction costs will total about $2.6 million. Total project cost will be about $3.2 million, according to engineering firm the EADS Group of Clarion. The project also is funded by a PENNVEST loan of about $3.2 million. Horizon has been awarded the general and mechanical contracts, and Right Electric, of Butler, will complete the electrical work. Township supervisor and Cranberry-Venango General Authority chairman Mike Deibert said he expects most of the work to be completed this year. He said the current completion date is “into 2025.”
