ERIE – A Warren County woman has been sentenced in federal court to 24 months in jail on her conviction for embezzling credit union funds.
In addition, Karen Schenck, 50, of Bear Lake, was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $696,273.72, Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song announced Friday.
United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence on Schenck.
According to information presented to the court, Schenck, while employed as the office manager/CEO for the federally insured Corry Area Schools Federal Credit Union in Corry from January 2008 to August 2015, embezzled about $741,362.
Schenck successfully embezzled the funds in a variety of ways, according to the information the court received.
Assistant United States Attorney Marshall J. Piccinini prosecuted the case.
