Warden gives updates on Venango County Prison

The jail board was updated on various matters at the Venango County jail during their brief meeting Tuesday.

Venango County Prison Warden Adam Craig said three corrections officers will soon be attending the academy for training.

County Commissioner Ken Bryan commended Craig and his deputies for their work recruiting people to work at the jail.

The average number of inmates at the Venango County jail during March was 125, according to the warden’s report, up from 116 in February.

The number of inmates in the jail on Tuesday was 138, Craig said.

There were a total of 111 commitments to the jail (73 males and 38 females) during March, 21 of which (15 males and six females) were committed for the first time, the report said.

During March, 81 people were released from the jail.

In addition, 10 individuals are on house arrest and eight Venango County inmates are being held in other jails, according to the report.

Craig said the number of inmate grievances was down substantially in March.
