The farmers market nutrition program for senior citizens will be available through the Clarion Area Agency on Aging.
The FMNP program, funded under the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, provides eligible participants with $20 worth of vouchers to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers markets.
To be eligible, a person must be at least age 60, live in Clarion County, and meet annual income guidelines. Household income must be no more than $22,459 for one person or $30,451 for a couple.
– New Bethlehem Senior Center: 9 a.m. to noon, June 4
– Rimersburg Center: 9 a.m. to noon, June 11 and 20
– Knox Senior Center: 9 a.m. to noon, June 12
– Allegheny Hills, East Brady: 1 to 4 p.m., June 20
The Main Street Center will distribute vouchers from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays beginning June 26, until further notice. There will be no vouchers distributed out of the Aging office at this time.
Each eligible person will receive four vouchers worth $5 each. Senior citizens who are homebound must fill out a preprinted proxy form to send with their proxy. Those forms will be available at the Clarion Area Agency on Aging office and the distribution sites prior to the distribution dates.
