Venango voting machine, ballot tabulator pass pre-election tests

Venango County voter registrar Laura Anna looks on as Ralph Montgomery casts a test ballot during the public voting machine test Friday morning in the Courthouse Annex.

Venango County election officials conducted a public test of their voting machines at the Courthouse Annex ahead of Tuesday’s general election, featuring the Trump-Harris race. Election staff tested a machine with practice ballots marked in various colors to confirm it could read them accurately, and sealed it for use on Election Day. They also checked the high-speed ballot tabulator, which sorted ballots into trays based on whether they were correctly filled out, left blank, or overvoted. Venango County has 33,288 registered voters, with Republicans holding a strong majority. Two polling places have temporarily relocated due to construction. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with favorable weather expected.
