The event is planned for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Bandstand Park in Franklin.
A ceremony featuring speakers who will talk about subjects pertaining to drug and alcohol recovery begins at 5 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, and some snacks will be provided.
This year’s Recovery Celebration features more speakers and vendors and stands to be larger than last year’s, one organizer said.
The event is intended to raise awareness of drug and alcohol recovery and to lower the stigma of drug and alcohol addiction.
Individuals in recovery will be on hand to share their experiences through presentations. Other talks include a history of Alcoholics Anonymous and guided meditation.
Treatment facilities will be displaying information on tables, and interested persons will be able to find links to Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous and rehabilitation facilities in the area.
The Recovery Celebration is being held in conjunction with National Recovery Month.
It is being sponsored by Value Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania and is a collaborative effort among several groups, including Venango County commissioners and Court Supervision Services as well as Family Service & Children’s Aid Society.
