Venango machines tested for what’s shaping up as a busy primary

Laura Anna, the Venango County elections director, tests voting machines on Thursday in the basement of the Venango County Courthouse.

Venango County is prepared for the upcoming May 20 primary election, with all 44 voting machines, ADA machines, and a high-speed ballot scanner thoroughly tested for accuracy by Elections Director Laura Anna. Due to the high number of local races, nearly 100 different ballots will be used across the county’s precincts. Anna emphasized the importance of double-checking all systems to ensure reliability, with support from the voting machine provider, ES&S. The primary is closed to registered Republicans and Democrats, and important deadlines include May 5 to register and May 13 to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
