Venango K9 officer Baxter dies

Baxter, the retired Venango County Sheriff’s Office K9 officer, died last week. He was 11 years old and was a popular and valued member of the sheriff’s office and the community.

Baxter, a dedicated man-trailing bloodhound with the Venango County Sheriff’s Office, passed away last week. Donated as a puppy by Christine Muir in 2013, Baxter was trained and handled by Sergeant Ryan Williams. Throughout his career, Baxter successfully located several missing persons and aided in various searches and manhunts. He was also a beloved presence at community events and educational programs. Baxter retired two years ago and spent his remaining years with Williams.
