Venango housing rehab program gets boost with grant

From staff reports

The Venango County housing rehabilitation program has received a boost as the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency announced the awarding of a $400,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement fund.

The state identified 309 housing and community development initiatives that will share a portion of the total $61.5 million in funding for fiscal year 2022-23.

Locally, the Venango County Regional Planning Commission will administer the grant within its countywide housing rehabilitation program.

“This funding is again very welcome and absolutely integral to our housing rehabilitation program,” said county community development planner Joshua Sterling, who administers the county’s housing rehabilitation Program.

“We can provide critical home rehabilitation projects for several households in the county with this grant,” Sterling said. “By arresting blighting conditions, we can help ensure a safe and healthy housing stock for current homeowners and for the next generation of Venango County homebuyers.”

Applications for the Venango County housing rehabilitation program can be found on the county website under the planning department’s “Community Development” page at www.co.venango.pa.us/741/Community-Development.

The applications are also available by stopping by the county planning office at the courthouse in Franklin, or by contacting Sterling, at (814) 432-9547 and jsterling@co.venango.pa.us.
