Venango food distribution set next month

From staff reports

The Venango County Emergency Food and Shelter Program will sponsor a county-wide food distribution in December.

About 850 households will benefit from this distribution.

Program registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, or as long as the supply of vouchers lasts.

Registration will be held at First Baptist Church, 1041 Liberty St., Franklin, (use rear entrance on Buffalo Street) and at Christ Episcopal Church, 16 Central Ave., Oil City.

Vouchers will be redeemed at local grocery stores Dec. 20, 21 and 22.

Program participation is limited to eligible Venango County residents only. At the time of registration, participants must sign a declaration of need certifying that their household income falls at or below 150% of the current poverty level. Vouchers will be distributed one per household.

Funding for this program is through the state Department of Agriculture’s State Food Purchase Program.

Any questions on this food distribution should be directed to Venango County Community Support Services office at (814) 432-9767, not to the churches where registration will be held.
