Venango Chamber Orchestra opens season Sunday

From staff reports

FRANKLIN – The spring concert of the Venango Chamber Orchestra will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin. The concert will begin the 24th concert season for the orchestra.

The members of the orchestra along with conductor John Murcko are dedicated to offering a live program of symphonic music to the residents of Venango County. It provides an opportunity for local musicians to perform in a formal orchestral setting and qualified students are invited to participate as part of their music training experience.

Much of the performance at each concert includes traditional classical music but there are more traditional and popular pieces performed as well. Sunday’s concert will include compositions by Bach, Bizet, von Suppe and Grieg, as well as a tribute to John Williams and the Muppets of Sesame Street fame.
