From staff reports
Flags for the Fallen, an event dedicated to the state’s military members who sacrificed their lives during Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12 at Venango Campus’ Rhoades Center Auditorium.
Nearly 300 flags are placed in front of Suhr Library as a memorial to each of the military members. Flags dotting the campus are memorials to Pennsylvanians who died in all wars.
Retired Marines Maj. General Peter J. Talleri, who served more than 30 years, will be keynote speaker.
He has commanded at all levels and has also been assigned to senior staff positions at U. S. Central Command and the Marine Corps Forces Central Command, located at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.
While at Central Command, he was responsible for the information technology logistical planning efforts during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The program is sponsored by the Venango Campus Veterans Club.
