VC choral program was second to none under Sister Mary David

Sister Mary David Callahan significantly impacted VC High School’s music program, fostering a sense of fun and camaraderie among students. Her leadership and remarkable talent made the choral group memorable and respected. Christy Licht Szafran, a gifted soloist from the class of 1975, praised Sister Mary David for her ability to bring out the best in her students and for believing in them. Sister Mary David, an accomplished pianist, organist, and composer from Oil City, passed away in 2005, leaving behind a legacy of musical excellence and cherished memories, including annual albums produced by her students. Her contributions to liturgical music and compositions were widely recognized and celebrated.
