Valley Grove School District Superintendent Kevin Briggs updated residents on the progress of Title IX policy revisions during Monday’s board meeting. The district’s policy committee is reviewing updated drafts of Policies 103 and 104, which address nondiscrimination for students and employees, respectively. The revisions, provided by district solicitor Jennifer Gornall, incorporate changes to federal Title IX law, including protections for “gender identity.” The committee will take time to review the policies and expects to present recommendations at the October meeting. Additionally, the board hired Tapangea Marzik as a paraprofessional.
