From staff reports
UPMC Northwest is sponsoring a better breathing clinic for people who often have trouble breathing or who have chronic lung conditions such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis and non-reversible asthma.
The virtual self-management class will be offered at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 2.
The class will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams and will be conducted by UPMC Northwest respiratory staff.
The class includes learning how lungs work, practical information about breathing medications, successful ways to reduce or stop smoking, methods to lower stress level and reduce anxiety or depression, how to improve eating with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), creating a COPD self-management plan and exercise tips that can help someone breathe better.
After registering, an email link will be sent with instructions on how to connect to the class.
If a participant doesn’t have access to a computer, they can dial in and still be a part of the class.
The class is open to family members and caregivers as well.
