Members of the two unions voted on the contracts last week, and they were approved by 94 percent of the faculty members and 100 percent of the coaches.
The negotiations team for the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF) reached a tentative three-year agreement Oct. 21 that ended a three-day strike. Previous contracts for the faculty and coaches had expired June 30, 2015, and negotiations had been ongoing since late 2014.
The State System’s Board of Governors must now approve the contracts, and a date for that meeting hasn’t been set.
The State System includes Clarion University along with branch campus Venango College in Oil City.
“Our faculty and coaches look forward to the State System Board of Governors completing the ratification process,” said Kenneth M. Mash, president of the faculty union. “Our faculty and coaches relish the opportunity to educate our students without the distraction of a contract dispute. APSCUF will continue to advocate for quality public higher education because our students deserve it and because of the vast benefits our universities provide to all Pennsylvanians.”
