United Way portal connects volunteers with opportunities

From staff reports

Get Connected Venango, the United Way of Venango County’s resource for volunteer connections, is an online portal used to connect volunteers with opportunities.

The program can be used by both volunteers and agencies looking for volunteers. It compiles the most recent information through user profiles to keep accurate and personalized information on one convenient website.

Last year, United Way created a volunteer coordinator position within its organization to facilitate this program.

The position, filled by Jessica Struthers, is responsible for keeping the website up to date and linking volunteers with opportunities that fit their interests.

Struthers stays in contact with agencies, ensuring their profiles are current and contain correct information.

The website recently got a new domain name, venangoconnect.org.

It will continue to connect users to the same easy-to-use volunteer matching site, but it is now more specific to Venango County.

The local United Way will begin offering Get Connected meetings for area agencies and community members who would like to learn more about the software and how to be part of the program.

These meetings, which will be held via Zoom, will include separate sessions for agencies and volunteers. People who register in advance will be sent a Zoom link invitation to join the meetings.

A meeting for agencies or groups who benefit from volunteers will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

A separate meeting for people who are interested in volunteer opportunities will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 25.

People who want to register for either meeting may call Struthers at (814) 676-6545 or send her an email at Jessica@uwvenango.org.
