Boy Scout Troop 11 of Oil City honored two Scouts – Alex Cozad and Jackson Donovan – with their Eagle awards during a Court of Honor ceremony this month at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin.

Cozad, the son of Andrew and Michelle Cozad, is a senior at Venango Catholic High School. He plans to attend Penn State University.

For his Eagle Scout project, Cozad built 15 wooden duck boxes and five bluebird boxes. The boxes were installed throughout Oil Creek State Park for the benefit of park manager David Hallman.

The project was made possible with funding from the Oil City Moose Club and the help of fellow Scouts. Lumber for the project was donated by 84 Lumber.

Donovan, the son of Jason and Brandy Donovan, is a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and a sophomore at Edinboro University. His fields of study at Edinboro include applied technology – aeronautical sciences and applied technical leadership – industrial and engineering administration.

For his Eagle project, Donovan organized a food drive for the St. Patrick community food pantry in Franklin. More than 700 items were collected in the drive that were donated to the food pantry, which is directed by Deb Drayer.

The project was made possible by Troop 11 members and Venango County residents.

Guests at the Court of Honor included families of the Eagle Scouts and lawmakers R. Lee James, Scott Hutchinson and Glenn Thompson.
