Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer identified the truck driver who died in a collision when his tractor trailer hit the back of another rig at 4 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 80.
Shaffer said Dumitru Diordita, 23, of Rolling Springs, Illinois, was burned beyond recognition in the crash that happened between exits 64 and 70 in the eastbound lanes of I-80 near Strattanville.
Clarion state police said, via a press release, that the other driver, who was not injured, was in a construction zone and had begun to slow down for a buildup of traffic.
Police said after Diordita struck the rear cargo area of the other truck, his rig continued east before coming to rest.
Police said Diordita’s truck was lodged into the back of the other truck when the cab burst into flames.
