The tri-county area’s unemployment rate continues to fall, with both Venango and Clarion counties showing seasonally adjusted rates for October below the averages of the statewide rate of 7.3%.
According to the state Department of Labor & Industry, the area’s seasonally adjusted jobless rates are as follows:
– Venango County’s October rate fell about three-quarters of a percentage point from September to 7.2%. In August, the county’s rate was 9.9%. At this time last year, the rate was 5.4%.
– Forest County’s October rate fell 1.2.% from September to 8.0%. In August, the county’s rate was 11.9%. At this time last year, the rate was 7.5%.
Elsewhere in the region
– Crawford County’s October rate was cut by a full percentage point from the previous month to 7.1%. In August, the rate was 9.9%. At this time last year, it was 5.1%.
-Mercer County’s October rate was slashed by eight-tenths of a percentage point from the previous month to 8.1%. In August, the rate was 10.9%. At this time last year, it was 5.4%.
Pennsylvania’s statewide October unemployment rate of 7.3% is down eight-tenths of a percentage from September. The national rate of 6.9% held from the previous month.
