The management team at TrAils To Ales hopes to bring technological drink pours and more people to downtown Franklin with its second location.
Dubbed TrAils To Ales II, the business opened Friday at 422 12th St. and features 21 taps that are self-poured by patrons.
David Ballard, a managing partner at TrAils to Ales Brewery, said he is only aware of two other businesses that use the self-pouring taps in western Pennsylvania.
Ballard said the new location will have a more easygoing pub atmosphere in the open space building, with a simplified starting out menu built around pizzas.
Ballard said he wants to expand the location’s outside area with bar access, fireplaces and a bandstand for performances.
“Our big goal is live music there,” Ballard said.
Live music was performed inside by Back East during the brewery’s grand opening Friday.
General manager Mark Shreffler II said the new location seats 76 people on the inside across 14 tables and a large bar.
The venue will also be available for private rentals, Ballard said.
“I’ve had my eye on that space since I was in my early 20s…it’s such a neat space,” he said.
Ballard said the new location will help TrAils To Ales Brewery expand more than just with a new place for patrons to purchase their beer.
“We really want to do local distribution,” Ballard said.
With the potential to increase production, Ballard said he hopes to start further distributing their beer out into the region.
“Right now we can’t keep up with demand,” he said.
Currently, TrAils To Ales is hoping to hire a “beer wall concierge” to help guide people through the self pouring beer system.
“That building overall will create 4 to 5 jobs,” Ballard said.
The new business will be open to the public each Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
