To the rescue… again

Precious Paws puts the Oscar Fund to work. It’s a nuthouse at the Venango County Humane Society. Tri-County has a spay/neuter clinic scheduled. Clarion PAWS, Clarion PUPS and Safehaven all have adorable adopable animals. And last, but not least, folks can take a walk on the wild side at Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center’s open house.

Rescue to the rescue

Buddy

Prescious Paws Animal Rescue’s Oscar Fund was undoubtedly working overtime earlier this week as the Franklin rescue group help a dog and a kitten.

Theresa Weldon posted about a dog named Buddy on the group’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

“Another animal rescue today – poor little guy was surrendered full of fleas and flea bites. He’s about 3 years old and a Malti-poo. Thin, terrible skin due to allergies, he will be beautiful once he’s loved and cared for. He’ll be available for adoption after getting vetted next week,” Weldon posted.

Precious Paws is helping a kitten who was thrown out of a car window.

Also on Tuesday Weldon posted about a young kitten who had been thrown out of a red car on Old Route 8 by the spring.

“Fortunately a kind couple collecting cans picked her up. Her nose was bloody, her face is indented from pavement contact and her eyes were goopy. The big worry is if there’s brain damage,” Weldon posted.

“She has the calici virus and that can be treated but right now we are waiting on the vet to determine the extent of her injuries,” Weldon said.

Weldon also posted that if anyone has any information on the people who abandoned the kitten, they should contact the rescue.

On Thursday, Weldon announced that the kitten had been dubbed “Missy Princess Pants.” Weldon reported that the kitten was doing better.

“I think we turned a corner today. She actually ate on her own – a fair amount. And she was grooming herself too,” she posted.

Meanwhile, the rescue still has a lot of adorable and adoptable kittens.
Christy Fackler posted to Precious Paws Facebook page about Rosy.

“Baby Rosy is finally eating solid food! She will ready for adoption in about a month. Put the word out and let’s get her adopted,” Fackler said.

What a sweetie

staci

Staci

Safehaven Small Breed Rescue in Tionesta has Staci up for adoption.

Sweet Staci is a beautiful, old soul. After 10 years in a puppy mill, she is just finding out what life is supposed to be like, the rescue said.

Staci had to be shaved down because of the matting of her coat. She has had issues with inter-digital cysts from all the years walking on wire, but is generally a happy girl, the rescue said. Those interested in giving Staci a home where she can live out her remaining years, can email safehavensbr@gmail.com

Safehaven’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs born in mills with birth defects, and to educate the public about the neglect and cruelty that occurs in commercial breeding kennels.

More information about the rescue is available on its website at

Safehaven Small Breed Rescue is located at 318 Barber Drive, Tionesta. It can be reached by phone at (814) 463-5004 or email at safehavensbr@gmail.com.

Do I have your attention?

marlon

Marlon

Clarion Paws in Shippenville has one kitty who demands attention and one who’s a little more laid back. These three fellas, Marlon, Domino and Mitch, are looking for forever homes.

Marlon is a young adult who enjoys licking toes, untying shoes and stealing phones, the rescue posted.

He will make sure he is the center of your attention. Once he has that attention, he will use you as a comfy pillow to relax and nap, the rescue said.

domino

Domino

Domino has the most laid back personality we’ve ever seen, the rescue posted.

This sweet boy spends his days with some of our big cranky boys. They want to be the center of attention and Domino lets them be, the rescue said.

He cuddles up to them and even grooms them. This bigger guy would be the purrfect fit for any family, the rescue added.

mitch

Mitch

Mitch has been at the PAWS house for almost three years now.

He is a bit skittish, but mostly he is just trying to convince you to play, the rescue posted on its Facebook page. He loves to run and hide, then sneak up behind you for love. He is quite the silly young adult cat. He loves his roommates and would do well in a home with siblings, the rescue added.

The shelter also posted earlier this week that it is in need of Purina Kitten Chow.
Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric.

The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The center is closed Fridays and Sundays.

More information is available online at www.clarionpaws.org, the group’s Facebook page or by calling (814) 229-1231.
