Titusville woman accused of resisting arrest, assaulting officers

From staff reports

A Titusville woman is facing charges for resisting arrest and assaulting police earlier this week at her boyfriend’s residence in Cherrytree Township.

Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint they were called to a home on Old Route 8 at 2:05 p.m. Monday by a man who said his girlfriend, Laurie E. Vargason, was acting “out of control” and “destroying the house.”

The complaint said the boyfriend told police Vargason had thrown a plate at him the previous evening and had been acting in an erratic manner.

Police entered the residence and tried to speak with Vargason, who was hiding in a closet, the complaint said.

Vargason, who was shouting at police, left the closet, pushed past the officers and proceeded to disrobe and enter the shower, according to the complaint.

After some time, Vargason exited the shower and redressed, still refusing police commands, the complaint said.

When police tried to place Vargason under arrest, she once again stripped off her clothes and physically fought against the officers, according to the complaint.

Officers then handcuffed her and redressed her before carrying her out of the house and placing her in their patrol car, the complaint said.

Two officers suffered several kicks from Vargason in the process, and one reported an injury to his right shoulder, according to the complaint.

Vargason was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault as well as simple assault, attempting to resist arrest and harassment.

She was arraigned Tuesday and her preliminary hearing is scheduled Jan. 10 in Venango County Central Court.
