Titusville United Way receives $55,000

From staff reports

The United Way of the Titusville Region on Thursday was presented with $55,000 in Community Project Funding for the Fiscal Year 2022 budget. The funding, which was presented to the nonprofit by U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, is designated for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

The program that would be supported by the funding works to improve literacy among young children by expanding access to books, according to a news release from Kelly’s office.

The Early Learner Success Initiative has enrolled 188 children, graduated 31 children, and has mailed more than 1,700 books.

According to research, Kelly’s office said, literacy foundation is crucial to brain development for children under 5 years old and there is a return on investment. Children who participate in early learning programs have experienced greater educational success and more ambitious career goals.

The funding comes after two BUILD Grants in 2020 that were delivered by Kelly for the 16th District.
