Titusville man accused of raping girl, 17

From staff reports

A Titusville man is facing felony charges related to the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in October.

Franklin state police said Devon Charles Johnson, 19, had sexual intercourse with the girl during a Halloween party in Oil Creek Township without her consent.

The girl said she went to bed in a spare bedroom of the residence and woke later in the night to Johnson having intercourse with her, police said.

When the girl confronted Johnson and asked what he was doing, Johnson reportedly replied “like he did nothing wrong and this was a normal act she wanted,” police said.

Police said Johnson in a later interview admitted to sleeping in the Oil Creek Township location that night in the same bedroom the girl had described, but he said the girl wasn’t in the room.

Johnson was asked multiple times in different ways if he had sexual intercourse with the girl that night and each time he replied no, police said.

Police said DNA later obtained from Johnson and processed through the state police crime lab in Erie matched materials retrieved from the girl’s sexual assault examination kit.

Johnson is charged with felony counts of rape unconscious victim, unlawful contact with minor-sexual offenses and corruption of minors-defendant age 18 or above, and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault person unconscious.

He was arraigned Friday and placed in the Venango County jail after failing to post $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
