Social media (and also some caring folks) helped a wayward pup find her way home. Precious Paws Animal Rescue and Clarion PAWS have cats of all colors, shapes and sizes available for adoption. Skye’s Spirit Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center continue their work to help injured wildlife.
Thanks for sharing
Last weekend, according to several Facebook posts, an injured dog sporting a mouthful of porcupine quills was found wandering near Karns Produce on Allegheny Boulevard.
The Franklin Animal Clinic, where the dog was treated, posted an update earlier this week.
“We would like to announce that the owner of the stray dog brought in over the weekend was found and they had a great reunion. The dog had been missing for over two months and they were so happy to find that she was alive and well. It was a very tearful reunion and we are happy they are back with their sweet dog,” the clinic posted.
Purr-fect companions
Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin has several foster kitties looking for homes.
“We have dozens of kittens looking for homes. We also have adults,” Theresa Weldon posted on the rescue’s Facebook page.
“The Jughandle duo is still looking for their forever homes. We’ve had them since they were a week old. Please adopt,” Weldon added.
Community support
Weldon also posted results of the rescue’s recent yard sale and fundraiser.
The rescue raised more than $2,000 for its Oscar Fund.
“Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and shopped our yard sale these past two days. … The most heartening part of the past two days were all the people who came in, not to shop, but to say thank you and donate money for the help we’ve provided to the community though our Oscar Fund, helping to vet community cats, and those we have matched to great pets,” Weldon posted.
“We are humbled by the support we receive from this community and know that many of you support us, through your words of kindness, financial donations and by volunteering,” she added.
Hard tack fundraiser
Precious Paws’ hard tack sales event is starting. The rescue will take orders until Wednesday, Nov. 1. The candy will be made and delivered in November and December.
In other news, canine Bella Boo and feline Smudge were adopted, according to a Facebook post earlier this week.

She’s missing an eye, but has lots of character
Clarion PAWS in Shippenville has Norma and Ike available for adoption.
“Norma came to us as a tiny kitten with a bad infection. It caused damage to her eye and it had to be removed,” the rescue posted on its Facebook page. “This sweet girl makes sure all the volunteers and visitors get plenty of attention and feel welcomed. Missing an eye just gives her some more character. She is already sweet enough but needs a family to spoil her endlessly.”
The shelter also posted about Ike.
“We can’t believe that no one has come to meet sweet little Ike. This little guy is four months old and ready for his furrever home,” the shelter posted.
The shelter is also selling raffle tickets at $1 each or six for $5. People may stop by the PAWS house or message the rescue via Facebook.
“Also if you can sell some for us let us know, we would really appreciate the help,” the shelter posted.
Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric. The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The center is closed Fridays and Sundays. There will be a special raffle of a quilt that was handmade and donated by a generous supporter. Tickets are $2 and are on sale at the center, through any volunteer, at events during the summer and throughout the day at IHAD. A maximum of 1,000 tickets are available. The drawing will take place at IHAD. The winner need not be present, but the quilt must be picked up in person.

Skye’s Spirit Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Harrisville continues to care for injured wildlife.
Last week, the rescue posted about an American kestrel that it was helping.

Donations can be made through the center’s website at www.skyes-spirit.com or be mailed to SSWRC, 889 Farren Surrena Road. Harrisville, PA, 16038.
Mouths to feed
