Sugarcreek’s cost toward EMS radio upgrade rises

The Sugarcreek Borough Council learned that the cost of staying current with Venango County’s upgraded EMS radio system has risen to $50,600, up from about $48,000 last year. Police Chief Bob Wenner, who presented this update, was unsure of the reason for the increase. The new system is expected to be operational in nine to fourteen months. Additionally, the council discussed grant applications to cover these costs and approved entering into a memorandum of understanding with the Oil Region Alliance for assistance in grant opportunities. Other business included updates on local road paving and a $300 donation to the Venango County Coon and Fox Club for police training.
