NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — A 15-year-old Pennsylvania boy is being charged as an adult after police say he set his Lawrence County home on fire with his family still inside.
State police say the blaze was first reported at a home in Hickory Township at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
The teen’s parents and 11-year-old sister suffered serious burns in the fire. They were taken for treatment to a Pittsburgh-area hospital in stable condition.
Investigators at the scene determined that the boy had set the fire. State police say the teen reported that he felt “disrespected” by his parents and sister for years during an interview with authorities.
The boy faces charges including criminal attempted homicide, aggravated arson and several related offenses. He’s currently being held at the Lawrence County Jail.
