The Venango Fatherhood Initiative held a soapbox derby Saturday on Rocky Grove Avenue in Rocky Grove.
Seventeen children participated in the event, according to director Anthony Rosario-Adams.
Winners in the three age groups were:
7-9 age bracket – First, Breylin Hagerty; second, Trevon Johnson; third, Olivia Hicks
10-11 age bracket – First, Aaron English; second, Jordan Freshcorn; third, Josh Seippel
12-14 age bracket – First, Brittin Winters; second, Lily Hagerty; third, Lori Heller
Sportsmanship awards went to Leighaunna Seippel and Aeris Arthur, and Olivia Hicks won the award for the most creative car.
The next event to be held by the Venango Fatherhood Initiative is the family fishing picnic at Two Mile Run County Park’s Woodchuck Pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 18.
Those who want to attend must register by Wednesday, Aug. 15. This event is free, but space is limited.
