The Oil City Fire Department will provide and install smoke detectors free of charge to any Oil City resident on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The 70 smoke detectors were recently obtained through a grant from the Bridge Builders Community Foundations.
Residents interested in having smoke detectors installed in their Oil City residences should call the fire department at (814) 678-3061.
If the fire department runs out of smoke detectors, anyone still interested in having detectors installed will be placed on a waiting list.
The fire department is actively working on obtaining additional funds to purchase more smoke detectors.
