A grease fire at Mong’s Ice Cream in Seneca momentarily paused business Sunday evening.
Seneca Fire Chief Paul Marsh said a grease fire started at about 4:30 p.m. in a fryer and was put out within minutes by a passerby with a fire extinguisher.
“We had a malfunctioning fryer,” Chris Smith, owner of Mong’s said. “Your basic grease fire in a kitchen.”
Marsh said the only damage was to the fryer and the business was allowed to continue serving ice cream.
“The kids are right back at it, back to serving ice cream,” Smith said.
