Shoreline erosion in Cooperstown

Erosion of Sugar Creek’s shoreline was encroaching on a building along South Main Street in Cooperstown on Monday. Last year, a storm started heavy erosion of the shoreline, Cooperstown Borough official Michael Meyer said. “It took about three or four trees off that bank and when it took those trees out it started eating away at the bank,” Meyer added. “Mother Nature at its finest again.” The borough experienced flooded roadways early Sunday morning after heavy rainfall.
