Several topics raised at hearing involving Rhodes companies

The Rhodes Estate water companies may face rate increases due to financial difficulties, as discussed in a Public Utility Commission pre-hearing. Judge Mark A. Hoyer expressed concern about maintaining service and safety. Attorney Joseph Ferguson noted the companies have financial strains, partly due to required upcoming testing and no rate increase in 10 years. The Department of Environmental Protection expects compliance with testing requirements. The PUC investigation, initiated after a water contamination incident, will proceed with formal hearings in October.
