Several construction projects moving forward in Cranberry

Construction continues in Cranberry Township as multiple projects were discussed at Thursday’s meeting of the township supervisors.

Road supervisor Ted Williams said work at Kimberly Lane and Ross and Regina drives by Walmart has progressed to the pipe replacement phase, causing large holes to be dug up from the roadways. He added that curb work has been completed.

“Hasn’t really disrupted much down there I see,” supervisors chairman Harold Best said.

Williams said that while IA Construction Corp. is busy, they have been able to keep traffic flowing in the area.

Eagle Contracting Inc. was subcontracted for the pipe work and IA will likely wait until the pipes are fully replaced before beginning to resurface the roadways, according to township manager Chad Findlay.

The township’s road crews installed several driveway and crossover pipes and spent five days ditching roads across the township, according to Williams.

“Again, we’re getting pretty much all of the ditching we need done this year,” Williams said.

Mike D. Erwin, who stood in for his father as utilities supervisor at Thursday’s meeting, said the township has been installing new water meters at houses.

While many meters have already been installed, Erwin said crews are waiting for calls from homeowners who weren’t present when crews made initial stops at residences.

Zoning officer Eric Heil said 20 permits were issued over the past month totaling $389,737.

Heil said he has been looking for quotes on security upgrades at the township office, including bullet-resistant windows.

Findlay said the township received $326,724.95 in American Rescue Plan funds on June 29. An equal amount is expected to be distributed to the township next year as well.
