On Sept. 23 at 6:15 in the morning, Ignite, Cranberry High School’s Fellowship of Christian Students’ club, hosted an event so students could gather at the flagpole to unite with those around the world in praying for their school, community, and country. Students, faculty and staff of the Cranberry District were invited to collectively pray and sing worship songs around the flagpole before school.

This rally is an international event for students to be able to come forth and worship how they please. As Trisha Dixon, the advisor for Ignite, stated “It is such a beautiful experience to see students living out their faith at school. Having the courage to simply come to “See you at the Pole,” students demonstrate that they aren’t afraid to show they believe in God which gives other students the permission to do the same.”

At the event, speakers Maddy Bunyak, Jordan Huffman, and Ava Fischer reiterated this year’s theme of return, restore, and revive with their shared scripture and testimonies. They preached to the crowd of students about God’s everlasting love for his people and all He could do for them. The students who attended revelled in the fact that they could share their worshipping the lord with all those around them.

For the last fifteen years, without missing out on one, Ignite has hosted this even at CHS. This year Ava Fischer, Maddy Bunyak, Nick Richar, and Jordan Huffman organized the event with Jordan running point on the committee. It was an amazing feat for the members and one that helped those around them as well.

When asked about the event, Jordan Huffman was passionate in stating, “I think it went very well! We didn’t have as many people as we normally would because it wasn’t open to the public though.”

He then went on to explain why the event was so significant to him, “I worship the Lord with all my heart and it’s one of the ways to be with people I know with the same beliefs and it’s fulfilling that I can do that freely.”

Ignite, the school’s Christian club with roughly 70 members, soon hopes to have a virtual meeting with its members since they can no longer meet within the school day.
