From staff reports
A revised work schedule has been set for the rehabilitation of the South Franklin Street Bridge that carries Route 8 over Oil Creek in the City of Titusville.
The bridge is scheduled to close for rehabilitation work next week, and traffic detours will begin at that time, according to PennDOT.
Prior to the closure, roadway repairs will be made to the posted car detour, East Bloss Street, South Drake Street, Bank Street, Brown Street and Water Street. The roadway patching, which is weather dependent, will start on Thursday, April 12, 2018
The project is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 23.
During the closure, separate car and truck detours will be posted. The posted truck detour will use Route 227 and Route 27.
The steel arch bridge, which is classified as structurally deficient, is located on Route 8, South Franklin Street, between the intersection of Route 8 with East Bloss/West Bloss Street and the intersection with Saint Johns Street in Titusville.
Work will involve replacing the concrete bridge deck, concrete barrier walls, concrete sidewalks and painting the structural steel on the bridge, and other miscellaneous construction as required.
The contractor is Clearwater Construction of Mercer. The contract cost is $1,334,000, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
