Rimersburg woman dies in fire

A Rimersburg woman died Thursday evening in a structure fire in Toby Township.

Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker identified the woman as Mary Chandler, 78.

The blaze broke out at 496 Baker School Road at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday, according to Clarion County 911.

Shingledecker said Chandler “passed away under accidental circumstances due to suspected smoke inhalation.”

Firefighters from Rimersburg, Sligo, Perry Township, New Bethlehem, Hawthorn, East Brady, Callensburg, Emlenton, Parker and Distant responded to the scene along with East Brady Ambulance Service.

The scene cleared at about 2:05 a.m. Friday, 911 said.

The newspaper was unable to reach anyone with the Rimersburg Volunteer Fire Department for more information Friday.
