Rimersburg girl, 5, raises about $1,200 for cat spay effort

Five-year-old Kessa Brown from Rimersburg was crowned charity queen at the 2024 Miss Purr-fect Sligo Pageant, held at the Sligo Recreational Center. The pageant aimed to raise funds for spaying and neutering feral cats, bringing in over $2,000, with Brown raising $1,174 of that total, which helped spay or neuter 50 cats. Lundyn Gallagher won the talent competition with a lyrical dance. The event featured additional awards for different age divisions and categories like hair, smile, and most photogenic. Organized by Balanced Buddha Spa, another pageant is set for November to collect toys for local children in need.
