Repair project to start soon on Route 8 in Cherrytree Township

From staff reports

A $250,000 PennDOT project to repair Route 8 in Cherrytree Township is scheduled to start soon.

The project will focus on correcting a portion of roadway just south of the border between Cherrytree Township and the City of Titusville.

Work will include stabilizing the ground with sheet metal piles, upgrades to drainage, shoulder repairs and guiderail and paving marking updates.

Construction is expected to begin May 13, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by October.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Francis J. Palo Inc. of Clarion. The contract cost is $257,007, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

This year PennDOT’s Northwest Region expects to do work on more than 100 projects. A full listing of all the anticipated work can be found in the 2024 Construction Book, located under the Resources tab online at penndot.pa.gov/District1.
