Remains in Cornplanter identified as missing woman

The skeletal remains discovered in Cornplanter Township in September have been identified as Kathyrn Sloan, a 44-year-old woman from the Oil City area who had been missing since December 2023. The identification was made using dental records, according to Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh. The remains are currently under analysis by Dr. Dennis Dirkmaat of Mercyhurst University, but the cause and manner of death remain undetermined. Sloan was reported missing by her family in June, and her last known address was in Cornplanter Township. Authorities are still investigating and urge anyone with information to contact the Franklin state police.
