Oil Valley Quilters Guild will host its 11th annual quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Seneca fire hall. The show will feature quilts and quilted accessories made by guild members.
Guild membership has been busy cutting and sewing dozens of beautiful creations during the past year.
The theme and the guild president’s challenge of the 2018 show is “By the Sea.” The show will feature many pieces in the spirit of the theme and challenge.
The centerpiece and raffle quilt will be one that depicts a lighthouse surrounded by quilt blocks made from many shades of blue cottons. The drawing for the quilt will be held at 4 p.m. on the day
of the show.
The guild will have several vendors selling their wares. Admission is $5 for adults. There will be door prizes. Parking is free.
Members of the Oil Valley Quilters Guild hail from a number of towns throughout Venango, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest and Butler counties. The guild membership, aged 8 to 93, is dedicated
to the preservation of quilting and to the sharing of knowledge and techniques in the needle arts.
The guild participates in several charitable projects throughout the year, including providing comfort caps for cancer patients, Quilts of Valor and the “Sweet Dreams” project, which provides pillows and pillowcases to children attending the Venango County Youth Alternatives Summer Camp. The guild welcomes all ages and all skill levels. Youth memberships are free when sponsored by an adult member.
The guild meets afternoons on the second Saturday of the month at the Church of the Nazarene, Oil City.
