A project to preserve seven bridges located throughout Venango County will start later this month, according to a press release from PennDOT.
Work on the bridges will include milling, resurfacing and waterproofing on various bridges in Venango County. The project includes additional work on some of the bridges, including sealing parapets and sidewalks and repairs to expansion dams.
The following bridges are included in the project:
– Route 38 (Fifth Street) over the Allegheny River in Emlenton;
– Route 62 (Petroleum Street) over the Allegheny River and Conrail tracks in the City of Oil City;
– Route 322 (Eighth Street) over the Allegheny River in the City of Franklin and Cranberry Township;
– Route 322 (Thirteenth Street) over French Creek in the City of Franklin;
– Kennerdell Road (Route 3008) over the Allegheny River in Clinton and Rockland townships;
– Old Route 8 (Route 3013) over Sandy Creek and a township road in Sandycreek and Victory townships; and
– Seneca Street (Route 6008) over Oil Creek in the City of Oil City.
Work will start Monday, April 29, at the Eighth Street Bridge that connects Franklin and Cranberry Township. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 18.
The contractor is Mekis Construction Corp. of Fenelton. The contract cost is $1,389,860.55, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
This project was made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.
No detours are anticipated with this project, but motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
