President woman receives Ike’s national honor

Sandy Taylor of President Township received the 2024 Izaak Walton League of America’s National Shooting Sports Award for her significant contributions to advancing shooting sports. Starting shooting regularly in her mid-40s, Taylor took on leadership roles at the local Ikes, organizing practical pistol shoots and becoming a certified range officer. She expanded the pistol program and increased female participation. Taylor also partnered with the Oil City YWCA to create a women’s shooting program, ensuring proper instruction and safety training. She further initiated a successful Ladies Only Handgun Safety and Familiarization Program at the Ikes, demonstrating her dedication to promoting shooting sports and safety.
